Moxifloxacin 0.5% eye drops are fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotics used to treat bacterial ocular infections. They act by inhibiting DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to rapid bacterial killing with a lower risk of resistance development. They have excellent ocular penetration and broad-spectrum activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens

Common indications

1. Bacterial conjunctivitis (primary approved indication).

2. Bacterial keratitis/corneal ulcers (commonly used under ophthalmologist supervision).

3. Post-operative prophylaxis after cataract or refractive surgery to reduce the risk of infection.
